“Charleene, Sherwick and I all got our pets
during the same year: Moto [kitten], Chupps [puppy] and Marshall [kitten], respectively. From the
moment we saw him, Chupps charmed all of us, even Mom, who is not exactly a
dog person. She raved about how well behaved Chupps was and how he waited
by the door until Sherwick came home.” ~Charrisse Johnston
(Sherwick’s sister)

“Chupps is the perfect picture of
obedience and loyalty. He listened to his parents intently. He would drink
and eat whenever Mommy and Daddy told him too. He knew their daily schedule
of workouts, work and play. He knew when to be ready and when he could
sleep in. He had such self control too. Even with hundreds of ducks
swarming all around him, he would stay by Daddy's side and not venture
away. His nature was so gentle and kind. We always looked forward
to his greeting when we stopped by. Even when we showed up early or left
late he was never surprised...he was happy. Thanks Chupps
for being a great dog to your Mommy and Daddy and to those who
meet and knew you well. You will be missed!” ~Troy and Robin Soares

“Regardless, seeing the relationship
you guys have with Chupps has warmed my heart and helped me see just why a
dog truly is "man's best friend". He's been a big part of
everything you do (training and everything), and it won't be the same at
the track without him.” ~Mike Lohmeyer (one of Team
JaS Racing’s pit mates)

“I do have lots of special memories
about Chupps… I remember when Sherwick moved to his newly rented house
(while he was doing his graduate work) and wanted to show each room of the
house [so] he sent over a series of photos with Chupps posing in the center
of each picture and Chupps looked like a seasoned model!” ~Sophia
Min (Sherwick’s mother)

“The time Chupps and Marshall met was
so funny. Chupps was friendly, excited and full of energy; Marshall was incredulous, watching Chupps
run around "his" house. The last straw for Marshall was when Chupps ate his food. He
hid under the glass coffee table and leaped out at Chupps,
hissing. Poor Chupps!” ~Charrisse Johnston
(Sherwick’s sister)

“…I will always remember how he loved
to go to the park and chase the ball.” ~Pam Williamson (one of
his sitters)

“We always look forward to seeing
Chupps over the holidays and giving him a little Xmas gift -- a Chewie,
chewman etc. One of the funniest times was when Kelly & I visited
Sherwick & Chupps in California.
We had driven to their place directly from the Basic Brown Bear Company in
SF where Kelly had made herself a beautiful little ballerina bear.
Unfortunately, it was made of the same nubby fleece fabric as Chupps'
chewman toys, so when we arrived, Chupps mistook the bear as a present for
him! We had to grab it back for Kelly and then hide it from him.” ~Charrisse
Johnston (Sherwick’s sister)

“He always loved being part of
Sherwick's massages!” ~Laura Schuster (Team JaS’
friend and massage
therapist)

“Chupps has always been Kelly's [Team
JaS’ niece] special friend too. He's never been anything but incredibly
gentle with her, even when she was a rambunctious toddler.” ~Charrisse
Johnston (Sherwick’s sister)

“I am so sorry about Chupps. That one
brought a tear to my eye. He always acted like a puppy, it is hard to
believe he passed! He was such a cutie and loyal as heck.” ~Kim
Phillips (Sherwick’s chiropractor and friend)

He was a truly cool dog and I know how
close you guys were.” ~Mack Tilling (Sherwick’s friend from
